1ST PORTSKEWETT BROWNIES NEWS SEPTEMBER 2006
Hi Everyone.
Sorry it has been a long time since we wrote with our news and but we have been very busy little Brownies and if you can take a 5 minute break, you'll be able to read what we have been doing, since our last letter to you in June.
We finished with having a great time on Pack holiday, we had a big parents evening with enrolling new Brownies and having badges and with it being my first Pack Holiday I had worked for 4 badges and 2 others so I did learn to sew a badge on but it still wasn't has good has Nan's but I am so thrilled to have a sash with badges on it now.
We were busy working for our Fire badge towards the end of last term has a group and we even had the fire engine and fire men come and visit us at our Brownie meeting we had the lights going and tried some of the uniform on, boy their hats are heavy and their boots came up to the top of my legs......
We learnt many things from them, please give us ring if you need help, did you know that you must check your fire alarms every week and clean them once a week....
We had a District trip and we went to Bristol Zoo and we all had a great day there, it was wonderful seeing the seals swimming above us and coming close to us by the glass that was under them. We all took pack lunches and sat outside watching people go by and met other Brownies from Bath and Somerset. We all had a great day...
We finished the term with a big B.B.Q for our families and us.
We have started back for our new term with 3 new Brownies and lots of new things planned for us. We started with working for our Crime Prevention badge and friends of animals badge and next week we have an appointment to visit Chepstow Police Station, we are looking forward it but we are abit sad too, for the last 8 years we have been the waitresses at the Harvest Supper for everyone that comes there, so we will miss that and with it being Vicar Dennis first time for Harvest here we are sorry for that but we have an evening for Vicar Dennis to join us tell more on that later,
With working for the above badges we have had plenty of things to talk about, making posters about crime and tell our parents how to make the house safe when we leave it and with going to the police station we will learn even more, just hope they don't lock us up in the cells there. Has for our friends for animal badge we are talking and writing about our pets and endangered animals how we can help them and we have lots of visitors coming to see us we have a group of people to come and talk about the badgers and how endangered they are becoming and we have a man coming talking to us about real owls and hopefully bring some real ones with him for us to see and it is here we have invited Vicar Dennis to join us (just wear a hat incase you know what happens)
Also this term we are working for our hostess badge, cooks badge and advance cooks badge so we have plenty to keep us going and a parents evening in the middle with enrolling the new Brownies
With all this, this will just about bring us to Christmas and we know something is happening but it's top secret at the moment so we let you know about next time.
Thank you for reading our news and we hope that you are well and we will write to you soon....
Bye for now.........
